A hard-to-find Danish solid and heavy bronze jewelry or cigar or trinket casket commemorative footed box made by Iron Works Art of Copenhagen, Denmark. The exterior of the box is decorated with a panel depicting the Battle of Lyndanisse. The interior tells of the battle.
Danish on the left, English on the right, and dates the battle June 15th, 1219. Fancy strap style hinges on the lid. 8.25" at longest, and 3.75" tall.
The back of the box is engraved a previous owner's name and "1947". The Battle of Lindanise was a battle which helped King Valdemar II of Denmark establish the territory of Danish Esgtonia during the Northern Crusades, which were undertaken in response to calls from the Pope.
